Cloud Platform consists of a set of physical assets, such as computers and hard disk drives, and virtual resources, such as virtual machines (VMs), that are contained in Google’s data centers around the globe. Each data center location is in a global region. Regions include Central US, Western Europe, and East Asia.
This distribution of resources provides several benefits, including redundancy in case of failure and reduced latency by locating resources closer to clients. This distribution also introduces some rules about how resources can be used together.

The free trial is available to startups in any country and provides $300 in credits to spend on all Google Cloud Platform products and services over a 60 day period. We recommend that you send companies here first, as it’s the best way to get familiar with GCP without starting the program prematurely (as credits are time-bound for 12 months). However, if you know the team well and believe they’re likely to need more credit quickly you may nominate them individually for the GCP for Startups Spark Package.
